August 22nd

Sanskrit Pearl of the day:
बहूनां चैव सत्त्वानां समवायो रिपुञ्जयः
वर्षधाराधरो मेघः तृणैरपि निवार्यते

- चाणक्य नीति

bahUnaaM chaiva sattvaanaaM samavaayo ripu~njayaH
varShadhaaraadharo meghaH tRuNairapi nivaaryate
- chaaNakya nIti

Meaning of the subhAShita:
A collection of people put together (in an army), wins over the enemy. The clouds that bring torrents of rain can be stopped by straw!

Thatched roof is a collection of strands of straw put together. But then, it has the strength to protect one from even torrential rains. This is not possible for a single strand of straw! Only collectively, they have that ability! That togetherness, that working in unison, is what gives them that strength.

Similarly, a collection of people put together makes an army strong enough to win over the enemy. A lone soldier cannot claim to do that all by himself.

When this concept is inculcated in life on a regular basis, co-operation will not be a challenge. Working in a team will come easily and any task will become a breeze!

United we stand, divided we fall. Unity is strength!
