Sanskrit Pearl of the day:
सत्कुले योजयेत् कन्यां पुत्रं विद्यासु योजयेत्
व्यसने योजयेत् शत्रुम् इष्टं धर्मेण योजयेत्
- चाणक्य नीति

Transliteration:
satkule yojayet kanyaaM putraM vidyaasu yojayet
vyasane yojayet shatrum iShTaM dharmeNa yojayet
- chaaNakya nIti

Meaning of the subhAShita:
Alliance for a daughter (should be) to a noble lineage; connect children to vidyaa (knowledge); during adversity associate an enemy; match loved ones with dharma (righteousness).

Commentary:
Associations in life make all the difference!

When parents look for a groom for their daughter, they look for a family with a good lineage. Although, they may lack in their possessions, the parents believe that their daughter will live happily amongst people with good moral values running in the family.

Children should be well educated. Even if the parents fall short in accumulating wealth and properties for their children, if they connect them to vidyaa, their life is set. Nothing is more important than giving good value based education to the children in today's world.

When in times of need, even an enemy can come to one's rescue. So, one can never say 'never'.

Loved ones should always be kept on the path of virtue. Right guidance to tread their lives on the path of dharma is the best gift one can give to their near and dear ones.
